chocolate and vanilla checkerboard cookies

  • 1 and 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup melted butter ( white )
  • A pinch of salt
  • Milk as required
  • Take powdered sugar in a bowl
  • Add butter and whisk with a hand whisker or hand blender

  • Add salt. Mix

  • Add vanilla essence. Mix

  • Add all purpose flour
  • Mix well with the help of hand

  • When the flour is nicely mixed knead the dough with the help of milk
  • The dough should be soft

  • Now make 2 portions of the dough

  • Take a portion of dough and add cocoa powder in it
  • You can take milk also to mix the cocoa powder if needed

  • Flatten both the dough a little with the help of rolling pin and and cover them in a cling foil and keep in the refrigerator for 20 min

  • Now take out the both the dough and and flatten them big
  • cut the edges and make it in a rectangular shape

  • Now cut long strips of about 1 cm of both the dough that means of vanilla dough and chocolate dough

  • Time for placing
  • Take vanilla strip brush a little water on the side and and place chocolate strip
  • Brush water on the side of chocolate strip and place the vanilla strip then again chocolate strip and then again vanilla strip

  • Brush water on the top of this strip
  • Now on the first vanilla strip place chocolate strip and like wise do with all the strips
  • Make almost 5 floors

  • Check all the strips are firmly joined with the help of water
  • Cover these five floors with cling foil and refrigerate for half an hour
  • After half an hour cut the cookies
  • Bake the cookies at 180 degree for 15 min
